Durango Handyman Rates and FAQ
Here are the answers to a handyman's most frequently asked questions. This is where you can find information about my rates, invoicing, scheduling, availability, and more.
Rates
First—and most important—I do high quality work, and this is reflected in my rates. If you're looking for someone with a skilled set of hands and eye for detail to do the job right—I'm your guy. I work alone, which means you get quality control at every stage.
Most projects will be invoiced at a flat rate, which I will quote in advance . If you are able to send pictures when submitting your request (pictures may be sent via text, email, or website), that can help us get on the same page early on. When needed, I'll arrange to stop by and assess the prospective project in person.
For home or business owners with a list of tasks or repairs, my 2025 hourly rate starts at $50 per hour with a minimum of 4 hours ($200). Note that the hourly rate may increase for more complex tasks.

QUOTES
As often as possible, quotes will be given in advance (i.e., installations, upgrades, renovations, light remodels, certain types of repairs, small builds, paint, etc.). If, in the course of work, it is determined that the quoted rate needs to be adjusted, the client will be notified before work continues.

HOURLY
Hourly jobs are less common and have a 4-hour minimum. (During busy seasons, this may increase to an 8-hour minimum.)

MATERIALS
Clients will be billed for any materials used specifically for their project (i.e., paint, spackle, lumber, siding, etc.). When I order and/or pick up materials, a minimum $30 materials acquisition fee will be assessed. When applicable, hauling and disposal fees may also be assessed.
Invoicing
Invoices are emailed upon completion of a project and will include labor, charges for materials, and any additional fees (such as disposal or material pickup). All invoices are due upon receipt.
Payment
We accept cash, check, Venmo, Zelle, and most major credit cards.

Note regarding credit card surcharge: To cover the cost of processing a credit or charge card transaction, and pursuant to section 5-2-212, Colorado Revised Statutes, a seller or lessor may impose a processing surcharge in an amount not to exceed the merchant discount fee that the seller or lessor incurs in processing the sales or lease transaction. A seller or lessor shall not impose a processing surcharge on payments made by use of cash, a check, or a debit card or redemption of a gift card.
Cancellation
A client may cancel a project by giving me a 24-hour notice. The client will be invoiced for any hours spent up to that point, the cost of materials, and a cancellation fee.
Scheduling
Generally, my work hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m, Monday through Friday. Exceptions can be made upon request.

Yes, I'm available to work some weekends. In fact, that is sometimes my preference. Let me know if this is necessary for your schedule.
Consultations
If possible, please send pictures and/or videos of the project (pictures may be sent via text, email, or website submission). This can speed up the quote and scheduling process considerably. If further evaluation is needed, I will conduct a free, on-site consultation.
